Sun and Surf and a couple of 4-legged friends

This past weekend I worked.  Very, very hard.

Oh hell, who am I kidding.  It was a sunny, crisp Florida day, the kind that you want to lay back in a hammock and rock yourself to sleep, soaking up the rays and maybe listening to some music in the background.  If of course, you have someone who can bring you a drink even better!   But, instead I settled for the sunny, crisp day surrounded by this type of cuteness:

Cocker

Yes, I want one, as soon as I get rid of the ones that I have at home

Yep, don’t you want one?

Yeah, me too.  Tom had to hold me down and make me swear that I was not bringing anything like that home.

And were was this cuteness? My sister’s company was celebrating its 2 year anniversary and well, I had to drag myself to a park, right off an island on Saturday morning to play and roll around with puppies and dogs of all breeds and sizes.  Dude, how can you say no to spending time with something like this:

White dog

Feel the breeze, the sun

Look at that face, I’m still wondering how they keep him all nice and white!

But nothing can prepare you for this  type of awesome:

funky dog

Sun and surf people, that is all you need

Yeah, that’s right people, that is how aw-some the day was, that face tells you all you need to know!

Afterward I went home to prepare for Tom’s mom birthday lunch.  Lasagna and Quesillo were the players  in the Birthday menu and I need to get going in doing some mixing and filing and baking.  If you mossy over to the Sweet Bites tab, you will find the step by step of making a Quesillo, which is made with eggs, condensed milk and dark rich caramel sauce, similar to crème caramel. ridiculous super easy dessert that will wow everyone and looks amazing.

And if you are like me and Tom, will not last past a day in your refrigerator.

He said, she said…

The past week has been sort of frighting on the death front.  We lost a couple of icons of our time, some expected, some not…  they said death comes in 3’s  so lets start with

The wisdom of age

Honesty is the most single most important factor having a direct bearing on the final success of an individual, corporation, or product. – Ed McMahon

The wisdom of a woman….

God made man stronger but not necessarily more intelligent. He gave women intuition and femininity. And, used properly, that combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I’ve ever met. – Farrah Fawcett

The wisdom of a man in a child’s mind…

In Dunny Love

This past weekend, after we finish soaking sun, and sucking Margaritas till we died… the boyfriend took me to a record store here in Tampa, who is independently owned and since the BF loves to support local gigs… that is where he plucks the money for new CD’s. Take that shit walmart!

Now the BF and I have a completely different taste in music, like the total opposite… I like Sia, Ingrid Michaelson, Madonna, The Kin and when he hears my iPod, he turns his nose up and gives me the “seriously” look….

I tell him to suck it up… you love me? you love my music.

Now, unlike him, I’m open to hearing all types of music, that is why through him I got hooked on Jill Scott (beautiful voice, all jazzy and soulful… she has a collaboration with Lupe Fiasco which I have heard so many times I think it is permanently recorded in my brain!). Then he got me turn on to the Robert Randolph & the Family Band…specifically with their “Ain’t Nothing Wrong with that”. So as you can see the boy has some type of influence on me.

But, that is not what this post is about…

When we were at the before mentioned record store… I stumble into these:

I.WANT.THEM!

Now, I never been a big collector of anything, not even the McDonald’s monopoly game pieces to win a million bucks… I just never had the patience to seek them out, trade them and all that crap that goes with the whole “collecting” movement.   But, these… I’m in so much trouble, because, these little action figure made of soft, smooth vinyl are my new best friends…I.LOVE.THESE!  They are just adorable, and the fact they are sold as “blind assortment” makes them more desirable in my book, I like when I have to work harder for something… that is the way I roll.

So, starting this weekend, I’m going back and I’m going to start plucking down the seven bucks to start collecting these … because seriously, they are just too cute for words.

Stuck on you

This girl got me at “Breath Me”… remember the last scene in Six Feet Under?

The one where Claire pops the CD her boyfriend (who she was leaving behind) gave her and “Breath Me” came out and just grab you.  I have that song embeded in my DNA people.  If I’m stranded in a desserted island with only one music choice to take with me… she will come along and use that voice to lured me heaven (Poetic no?).

Well she is at it again…

Sia, has just release her new album “Some people have real problems” and Oh.My.GOD!

I already downloaded the whole thing and like every single one of her songs…”Little Black Sandals” is catchy and already my iPod is playing it over and over again, since it has detected that is one of my favorites.  But to make sure I don’t make the other songs jealous, this one is my second favorite: “Day to Soon”

Now RUN and buy her album, the best $13 bucks you could spend

Ok.. Since I know you are all patiently waiting on my next post (I’m so full of myself!)… and I got nothing, because everything in my life right now is boring… work? boring, everyday happenings ?BORING. And since I got no dating stories, then of course I got nothing to post, as in Nada, Zip, Niente. No even the cats are helping me conjured up a witty post. I could go into details in how I baked a cake, but for that you probably can find funnier stuff over at a cooking blog… and let me tell you, there are some great one, one of my favorites is here.

And while you go and check her out… I decided that for now, until I get back into dating and all of those yummy stories about bad dates, and heartbreaks.. I’m going to call Thursday the official-non-post of the week (along with Tuesdays, and Fridays, and Saturdays and… ) because I’m also lazy, and I got major lazy going on right not.

So, to take OFF some posting pressure… Thursday is going to become Music Thursday, where I will post a video or some a link or player or something to let you know the song that is just stuck on my ipod at the moment… or a song that is worth mentioning because I just spend like a trillion hours looking for it on the internet: Like the song that plays at the end of that show in Lifetime: “Side Order of Life”… episode 13, very last song.. were she finally meets cellphone man (and if you have no clue what I’m taking about… don’t worry, its not a show for you!) and they leave us to hanging until season 2… but, getting off topic AGAIN….

so, back to the Music Thursdays idea …and with that said, this is the song the week
